Originally from Durham City in the United Kingdom, I have been a Real Estate Agent in San Francisco for over 14 years. I started my career with Grubb&Ellis, where I spent 5 years in downtown San Francisco on the commercial side of the industry. After my first year in the business, I was named “Rookie of the Year” doing investment sales and leasing. I then moved into residential real estate with Vanguard Properties in 2003. Since joining Vanguard I have represented hundreds of buyers and sellers, brokered over $100 million in transactions and have been a Top Producer every year from 2003 – 2011.

I have a First Class BS Honors degree in Real Estate Business Practices from Newcastle University in the UK. My formal real estate education and diverse cultural background enable me to understand the entire real estate process and many kinds of property and personalities. I grew up in England where my father is a contractor and I have also lived and worked in Portugal, Vienna and Egypt.

First and foremost I am extremely direct and honest with my clients. Like it or not, I will tell you the reality of the situation. I am calm, confident and streetwise. I know how to negotiate from either side of the fence and am good at understanding different points of view in any situation.
  • I work with both buyers and sellers and feel this balance is important to maintain an accurate and current view of the marketplace through economic cycles.
  • I love to help people buy or sell single family homes.
  • I work with developers from land purchase and acquisition, through the San Francisco planning/ entitlement process, Department of Real Estate (DRE) paperwork and formation of Covenants, Conditions and Restrictions (CC&R’s), architectural layout and construction, design and finish choices, into the sale of their final product –luxury new condominium and new home sales.
  • I have handled the sale and purchase of multi-unit apartment buildings, either as straightforward rental investments or add-value/Tenancy-in-Common (TIC) plays for developers and investors. I understand the implications of the Ellis Act and tenant evictions on marketing, home ownership and condo conversion.
  • I have owned, occupied and converted TIC units into condominiums, in addition to handling many complex TIC transactions, making me a TIC specialist. I can explain the varying kinds of TIC buildings particularly in regards to the financing structure and joint or several liabilities.
  • Different buildings require different financing. I can help you understand loans and navigate the lending world through my long term relationships with people who offer honest advice and know how to get a loan closed. This is essential to being a good Realtor.

I currently own and reside in a penthouse live/work space in what I like to call the ‘original’ South of Market Area (SOMA), with my amazing fiance Christopher Blair and my beautiful son, Theodore North. I adore the eclectic mix of residents, business, artists and retail that this location has to offer. I have also lived in Pacific Heights, The Castro, The Haight and Noe Valley over the past 14 years and have an intricate knowledge of MLS districts 5, 6, 7, 8, 9.

My personal passion is home renovation, design and interiors. I have purchased and renovated several properties of my own. When I’m not working I like to visit my Grandfather Stanley Ferguson’s tugboat, ‘The Eppleton Hall’ which resides in the Bay at the San Francisco Maritime Museum (yes, really!).
